Song List
1 Common Sense
CS: "I had fun making this song, more significantly because of the story.True story people, had this girl i was seeing that left me for some model hunk. Well, truth be told, it's just normal that we pick the best of the species, in this case the best looking. turns out that "evolution" doesn't actually go easy on the heart. So that girl came back to see me hoping to settle our issues but she didn't count on me actually changing. pretty girl, not pretty enough for me to forget though. tough love."
2 Library
CS: "Making this song was like watching gravity at work. everything just fell into place. I fell in love in a library... This girl never even noticed me, i would go all around the college campus only to find her in library. Something about the glasses and the fact that she was always absorbed by her books got me intrigued. no happy ending though, never got to meet her, partly coz she never noticed me, and the fact that i'm pretty bad with women."
3 My Secret Love ft. Shao Jaranilla & Ian Reyes
CS: "Talk about one-sided love, this is exactly about what the title suggests. I had this urge to make something "jazzy", considering that i can't actually play the piano i started out with two notes. from there i just placed other sounds into the mix and came-up with this blues-like sound. This track allowed me to work with two of the best guitarists i know; Shao Jaranilla, who is an excellent guitarist, played some blues in various parts of the song and Jan Christian Reyes put some funk bass into the pot. turned out great, if i do say so myself."
4 Limber
CS: "*Laughs* this song has undergone so many transformations in both lyrics and beat. this is one of my first songs. This song is actually about how shy i get with women. funny story, one time me and a couple of friends were out at the clubs and i saw this girl who i really found attractive and she was reciprocating! here's the catch though... i was way to shy to make any moves or even to ask her name. so she sat there with her friends anticipating a move from me. my friends were like: 'go talk to her' and i was like 'how? i'm too shy' and then my friend said 'just dance, that'll get her attention. just be limber.' and that was it. with that in mind listen to the song, you'll 'get it'."
5 I Know You
CS: "we all seem to have stories of infidelity or dealing with infidelity, and this is mine. in my experience i was actually aware of it and i did not tell my partner that i knew during the time. what i did was i tried being nicer to her hoping that the guilt would seep in. Unfortunately my ploy did not work. When she took my "niceness" as a sign of me being oblivious she would meet up with her boy toy more often. and the timeline of this song's story is during this time. my debut single off the album."
6 Special
CS: "This song is very simple... which is the ironic thing about it. Even i have to admit that this song is pretty simple. the beat isn't something you can consider 'urban', piano progression is common, even the vocal arrangement doesn't exactly show off any great singing ability. So... why is it 'special' again? well, the lyrics is all about how you can go from success to more success but still feel unsatisfied. therefore the way you define yourself becomes bleak. Love, human connection, these things may seem like disney-inspired values but the truth is we can best define ourselves by the people we love and the people who love us. and that is what the song is about. nothing special in the music, but everything special in the intention."
7 Bad For Me ft. CRISIS
CS: "I think most people, like me, have gone through this; being in a relationship that is neither healthy nor productive and is destined for nothing but misery. but despite knowing these things 'we' often get ourselves in trouble anyway. I honestly have no idea of what it feels like to have a substance addiction but i'm guessing it's gotta be similar to this. it's like dooming yourself. You know nothing good can come out of it but you do it anyway with complete awareness. Oh love this beat, i used a timpani to serve as the bass....not sure if it's been done in a track like this. oh 'CRISIS' raps here... i won't delve into anymore than that."
8 Let's Chill (Even a Bit)
CS: "Funny thing is... this song is actually two songs! The 'Even a Bit' part, which is the first part, is supposed to be an entirely different song. I honestly have no idea what came over me, why i decided to combine the songs. i even argued in my mind that the songs might possess contradictory messages, but at that point it felt wrong to divorce them. much to the contrary to my argument the songs' messages did fit. 'Even a Bit' is supposed to be about how other girls don't affect me... not (even a bit). and then the song switches to the Let's Chill part which comprises most of the song. 'Let's Chill' is about the erratic thoughts in my mind, which i blurt out in the song, as i experience those times in an intimate relationship where we get 'intimate' after being 'hostile'. i'm sure we've all experienced that, or atleast imagined it. i'm just putting mine out there for you all."
9 Blew Out the Flame
CS: "ok storytime: So i was in a good relationship... everything seemed to go good until my ex started to pop back into my life. No, i have no back issues with my ex, none of that 'i still love her' stuff... but her sudden reappearance made my girlfriend think so... and sadly everything spun out of control after that. To think that for most a simple 'i don't think we should keep in contact' would be enough, i had to go all out and make a song... she was that persistent. But contrary to popular belief persistence doesn't win all... in a lot of cases (mine included) it's irritating."
10 Don't Want You to Go
CS: "this track is waaay to specific... in the creation process of this song i vividly try to paint, frame-per-frame, my journey through this dilemma. All i can talk about is the creation process of this song, 'coz to explain the story of this song would be the same as copying verbatim the lyrics. so best hear it for yourself... oh lastly, this has got to be one of my favorite beats in this album."
11 Just Another Man
CS: "Another addictive beat, if i'm allowed to say so. I know I know, this is my own song and i'm biased, i am well aware of all Carl Jung's list of cognitive biases so i don't need any of you to tell me but... honestly? this beat rocks. the reason it does is because i combined a lot of elements such as blues and beatboxing. the former may not be as obvious but i'm guessing that's why this song is so effective for me. because the blend turns it into something i can't categorize. i know this is a lot of hype and i know some of you will not agree but that's the beauty of this project... the risk, sure it's easy to make songs people will generally enjoy but i'm obviously not trying to do that right? if hope this song turns out to be as effective to you as it does me."
12 Better Off
CS: "This is my heaviest song in the album. A lot of people will relate to this but let me assure you that was not my intention. I tried to be very specific but as it shows we are more alike in our circumstances then we imagine... this is what this is all about... what the album is about. my specific circumstances brings out my subjective points. we experience the world differently although we all live in the same world, circumstances are personal and subjective and what springs forth from these isolated incidences are personal and subjective as well right...? but some aspects of it are the same in everyone... we meet a certain median in assessing our empirical knowledge and sympathizing and empathizing with others'. hope the exploration of my circumstances helps you unravel parts of you that are yet touched by your conscious mind. sounding like a cult leader right? don't worry, this is just honest honest music..."
13 Leave the World Behind
CS: "This song can't get anymore personal for me. uhm, the world is so fast and circumstances always force us to rush into or out of things. i'm basically trying to convince my girl to stay just a little while longer... I'm aware that she has to go and that's why i urge her to just stay and 'leave the world' behind. This song is a lovely addition to my album since its mood is so mild and it's in juxtaposition to the sounds of my other tracks. hope you love it. i love it to death."
